Anil Kapoor is an actor par excellence and there is no denying that. The Mr. India actor’s journey in Bollywood has been nothing less than of a rollercoaster ride. Even Anil had never shied away from talking about his struggling days and being criticized for his looks in the public. Speaking of this, in an old interview, Anil had revealed that he was once told he was not a ‘hero material’ and that people used to mock him for having ‘too much hair’.

Speaking with Simi Garewal on her show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, the 65-year-old actor opened up about his struggling days and asserted that it was a long struggle for him to become an actor. Back then, Anil had shared, “It was a struggle to become a successful actor, people said I don’t look like a hero, I have small eyes, too much hair on my head, small face, too kiddish-looking. They used to call me Jughead, so I would keep on meeting producers. I had decided I would do bit roles and then become the hero or the leading man, and it has happened exactly like that.” ALSO READ: Throwback! The Total Dhamaal actor was further asked to give himself rating as an actor. To this, Anil mentioned that he does not think too highly of himself. He explained that he feels he is "not a good actor, he is an insecure person, who gets scared, thinking if he ‘will be able to do it and fulfill director’s dream." Furthermore, pointing out that acting has nothing to do with looks, Anil stated, “For a star, appearance is important, not for an actor. You can be the ugliest man with all kinds of scars on your face, but if you can perform, or can deliver then you can hold the audience’s attention. I always thought of myself as an actor first, and then a star.”

The Nayak: The Real Hero actor even wished he had a face like Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise and body like Sylvester Stallone. On the work front, Anil will next be seen in the upcoming film 'Fighter' which also stars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. He also has Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ in the pipeline.
